Marine Audits and Inspection Service

The ADC inspection is planned and undertaken in liaison with the vessel operator, to maximise the use of resources while creating least disruption to ongoing activities. To this end the Inspector and vessel operator discuss in advance:

• the timing and programme (opening meeting, scope of inspection and closing meeting)
• approximate duration and format of the inspection
• the personnel to be made available
• vessel’s documentation requiring to be viewed (including previous inspection reports where available)

Throughout the inspection, the Inspector is accompanied by the vessel operator’s personnel familiar with the area being reviewed. On conclusion, the Inspector provides the relevant vessel operators personnel with a verbal briefing and a brief written summary of the result of the inspection. Findings, recommendations and observations shall be prioritised according to timescale from High to Low.

The Inspection Summary provides an overall impression of the vessel and any other comments that may be useful to the reader of the report. Previous Inspections have covered, but are not limited to the following areas;
